Playa Mujeres
This project was inaugurated in August, 2003, on a 27,181-
acre site, of which 12,355 will be available for tourism
infrastructure and almost 15,000 acres will be retained as
an ecological reserve. With an initial investment of $1.35
billion, it is one of the most ambitious developments. It plans
the construction of 7,500 hotel rooms, two golf courses, as
well as residential and business areas, a marina for mega-
yachts, beach club, service areas, ecological reserve and
beach access on 929 acres.
