Among the other major projects is Centro Maya,
managed by the GICSA group, a company that is
consolidating its fifth plaza in Quintana Roo. The
current development is a regional center designed for
markets with a potential of 300,000 persons. Centro
Maya will include a Soriana supermarket, City Club, a
twelve-screen cinema complex as well as Woolworth's,
Copel, more than a hundred boutiques and all kinds
of specialty stores, a family entertainment center
and a rapid food area. In addition to these huge
complexes, a Comercial Mexicana supermarket is
under construction on the former Carlos Cordero
stadium site, as are various micro-plazas in locations
throughout Playa del Carmen and Cancun
Although some might wonder if this is all too much
of a good thing, these are projects with excellent
medium and long-term prospects in high demand
markets such as Cancun and Playa del Carmen with
dizzying growth rates.
